Some illustrations from over time

This illustration was produced one rainy day when i woke up and decided id create a a3 digital illustration. Although i started out with a a3 pencil drawing that i then scanned in. I don't know what it was that made me want to create a pyramid headed creature, but i felt it was a stepping stone to learning how to combine photoshop and illustrator in an illustration.

I made this piece in a college photoshop tutorial lesson on how to use layer effects to make illustrations look like they are inked onto a paint splattered background. i luckily had this paint splatter scanned in already for a previous project so i didn't have to mess around with photoshop brushes as i find they never quite create the same effect.

I decided id create an illustration purely in illustrator and after listening to a lot of tame impala i thought i would reflect the mood of the music. It has a dreamy vibe and expresses the idea of a wondering mind. And the idea of the floating dreamy head is shown through the character being a balloon.

I was set a group project at college to design a zine. After a short debate we all agreed a animal themed illustration zine was a good idea. i was given the job of the front, back and center two pages. I drew this giraffe to be in the double page and i even wrote a story for it. I gave him a neck that is split into multiple sections because i did't want this to be any old giraffe.

This was the cover for our zine. I had to use this as the cover because it was the illustration most appreciated by my peers out of the other ones. I used illustrator to vector trace a scanned pencil illustration.

This is my most recent illustration for a narrative images brief in which we had to create an illustration for a story . But i wanted to carry on the piece even when i finished. i decided i wanted to put the story inside the illustration to give the whole thing a lot more information.

Anti Drugs campaign

Here is where i started when coming up with ideas for my final magazine advert. Including slogans and basic layout templates.

After considering possible layouts i took photos in a series of different locations, but i found this one to be the best for the lighting.

I created a folder to store many experiments with type and picture editing. where i experimented with different images and different fonts using photoshop effects to see what i could do with the lighting.

My final advert. Although the contrast and brightens have changed, above this image you can get an idea of the softer vibe that is shown through the ability to see more of the surrounding area.

A Short Design Project

We were set a project to redesign the banners which direct you to the different sections of the natural history museum. To start my research me and a few friends went to visit the natural history museum. I took some pictures and from what i gathered the building was so intricate that an over complicated banner design would contrast too strongly against the structures detail.

Then after returning home i decided it was time to get some ideas down, these were my favourites as they all followed this simple style i had visualised. I considered many things but i came to decide that the simple circles would do the job. I like how it could be related to the alignment of planets and the relevance that has within the museum.
